The two early missionaries appointed to the Palestine Mission are Rev. Pliny Fisk (chap. 14, by Rev. Alvan Bond) and Rev. Levi Parsons (chap. 15, by Rev. Miles P. Squier]. Rev. Daniel Temple was stationed in Smyrna; he was assigned by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions to direct the station’s printing press and he was not tasked, to be precise, with missionary outreach to the unconverted (chap. 17, by Rev. William Goodell).
