Chap. 24 gives an account of the author’s visit to Smyrna, the local Jews ("some of them are notorious cheats"), and Abraham, the Jewish guide who turns out to be a "deceitful, dishonest knave." Chap. 26, "Island of Rhodes," contains the story of the Colossus of Rhodes and its sale in 672 to a Jew who had it disassembled and hauled off in 900 camel loads.
