Notes
Chap. 4, "Sabbath Hours," retells the story of Rabbi Nahum and his embrace of Christianity, together with three of his children, all despite opposition from his wife and an outraged Jewish community somewhere in Moldavia, then within the Ottoman empire. A perfect copy has a frontispiece. Book opens with a listing of the publisher’s "A.L.O.E. BOOKS." Running title: What is a Christian? A.L.O.E. is A Lady of England, Tucker’s preferred pen name.
