In his argument for maintaining the separation between church and state, the author, drawing on Connecticut’s Governor Jonathan Trumbull, contends that any union of the "mosque or the synagogue" (p. 11) is to be resisted. Authorship has been attributed in error to Hooper Cumming. S & S 19903 (under Hooper Cumming).
