The projected multi-volume set never appeared; according to one report from early 1885, vol. 1 was "almost ready for the printer," per "THE B’NAI B’RITH," Jewish Messenger (New York), Feb. 13, 1885, p. 4. The author’s published research, consisting of thirty-five chapters, appeared in The Menorah (New York), vols. 1-6 (1886-89). Note also the U. S. Copyright Office registration R15666, perhaps representing the series of installments in The Menorah.
